TRASHFORMERS: An International Competition for Playing with Trash

TRASHFORMERS is the ultimate upcycling challenge — where creativity meets sustainability in a high-energy, time-pressured competition.
It’s a live transformation battle where teams turn discarded materials into wearable art, pushing the boundaries of design, sustainability, and innovation.
Each edition features a specific theme, challenging participants to rethink waste and create something extraordinary in a limited timeframe.
The first edition, Trashformers: Wedding Gown Edition, takes place on March 8, 2025, in honor of International Women’s Day at the Sustainable Fashion Playground, Eindhoven.
How Does It Work?
THE CHALLENGE
Two teams—one of professional designers, one of amateurs—compete head-to-head.
THE TIME LIMIT
60 minutes to transform two discarded wedding dresses per team into stunning, upcycled wearable artworks.
THE SHOWDOWN
The final creations debut on the Radical Runway at the end of the event.
